The performers, who may number in the hundreds and consist of both QCGU students and citizens of Brisbane (children and adults), constitute 5 primary groups:
- The Continuo—a core group of 16 iPod players who control all 16 lines of the music, and who represent the primary performance group of the opera
- The Travellers—moving groups of performers on iPods, cellphones, and laptops, creating the ribbons of sound and providing sound beds and textural accompaniments for the 5 Acts
- Soloists—the live soloists and ensembles featured in each act
- Orpheii—participants in cyberspace on Flickr, MySpace, YouTube, and Second Life
- Park Visitors—who may participate in both active and passive ways, from playing iPods and cell phones, to carrying RFID tags. Lead by performance artists who prepare them ahead of time with the legend of Orpheus and their part in the opera, children will also be included in several ways.
- Credits—a complete list of the performers and support personnel who took part in the South Bank Parklands performance.
